2009 was one exciting year for Lil Wayne despite not releasing a new solo album as “Rebirth” was delayed until February 2 of this year. He was impossible to miss, however, seemingly popping up in every track on the radio. With cameos in hit songs from artists like Birdman, Drake and Jay Sean (among others) & two singles released from the upcoming album on bookends of the year, Lil Wayne was the hottest commodity in the business. “Prom Queen” was [...]

The bad news is that “Home Run” isn’t I Can’t Feel My Face material. The good news is that “Home Run” isn’t I Can’t Feel My Face material. I say that because if Lil Wayne and Juelz Santana do an album together, there better not be tracks like this where Weezy just “sings” his way through a hook. We need verses from these two, people, not awful choruses. And there are few things in music worse than a rapper trying [...]

The Clipse’s Pusha T recently compared his method of writing raps to the freestyle techniques of rappers like Jay-Z.

Pusha thinks that rappers who boast about not writing down their words and resort to freestyling their rhymes may be sacrificing quality.

“I have the coolest little writing journal. I love to just blackout in it, and I can’t wait! It’s like everything. I’m just taking on all beats and all types of sh*t and just spilling,” Pusha said [...]

Chris Brown’s bow tie is going to have to share the spotlight. The R&B star’s Vivienne Westwood black-and-white polka dot and plaid saddle shoes received their fair share of attention during Milan Fashion Week. On Sunday (Jan. 17), Breezy was front row at the Westwood show and the day before he took in the fashions of Costume National Homme.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the “Crawl” singer obligingly posed for photos with press and fans who stopped him.

Have you seen the commercials about the Sprite Step Off, one of the self-proclaimed largest step show tournaments in history? I can’t lie. I cheered when I received notice from Sprite that I got admission into this event. Watching step competitions was one of my favorite things to do after I transferred from Northern Michigan University to my alma mater Lincoln University.

Step shows were events that excited me since my elementary school days running home to see “A Different World,” [...]

Rihanna graces the cover of this months W magazine, and talks about being assaulted by her ex-boyfriend, R&B star Chris Brown.

“At first I completely shut down. But now I feel like this happened to me so I could be a voice for young girls who are going through what I went through and don’t know how to talk about it. It’s not about Chris, about hurting him or sabotaging his career. I don’t care about that part of it,” she [...]

Ludacris is moving forward with his new LP Battle of the Sexes, but he’s also looking back — his new single “How Low” is a trip down memory lane, to the days when he had long corn-rolls and rocked the herringbone chain.

“We really was just taking it back,” ‘Cris said on the set of Shawty Lo’s “Atlanta, GA” video in ATL recently. “We coming up on my 10-year anniversary in 2010 — thinking about the essence of ‘What’s Your Fantasy,’ [...]

Jay-Z stopped by Ed Lover’s Power 105.1 radio show and dropped another nickname for himself: “Jigga the Greek,” referencing the late sports commentator and bookie Jimmy the Greek.

Hov predicted the New York Jets would be up against the Dallas Cowboys in this year’s Super Bowl.

“Cowboys, that’s my pop’s team — what I’mma do? The Cowboys and the Jets in the Super Bowl. I’m gonna put that out there,” he said.

However, we asked around, and fellow Brooklynite Fabolous said Jay is [...]
