I once met Hope at an officers’ reception in Korea. It was kind of backstage event. I even got to meet the latest Miss Universe. She was not only lovely, she was a beautiful person. But I was really impressed by how tough Bob Hope was. All that light stuff came at a price–total focus and discipline.

I attended a Bob Hope show in December,1950 as he,Jerry Colona and Marilyn Maxwell warmed up for their Christmas show in Korea.It was at the base theater,Carswell A.F.B.Texas,and very memorable.

Even as a liitle boy, when most wanted to watch cartoons, I always looked forward to Bob Hope and any show he was in. What a awesome individual and humanitarian he was! only wish todays young adults could watch him and his great shows and what he did, and meant to all americans!

I was lucky enough to have seen him twice in my navy carrier, once in veitnam and once here in the states. Yes a light in the world went out With Bob, the world got a little bit darker. Thank you Bob for careing.
I saw Bob Hope in person in Chicago in 1976, he did a benefit for Saint Ignatius High School. He was great and was a great American.

I was lucky enough to meet Bob Hope twice. The first time was on the flightline at Danang, Vietnam in December of 1970 after he finished his show at Freedom Hill. The next time was as he and his USO troop returned from Christmas shows off the coast of Lebanon in 1984 and landed at McGuire AFB, NJ where he did some live TV interviews for all the morning news shows. He was a great American and a true hero to all the military personnel over the years.

Anybody who says Bob Hope didn’t serve his country needs to have their backside kicked by any GI who served, is serving, and will serve. America should be honored to claim him as a son. A few so-called present day celebrities could take a lesson or two.
